Underlining the demand that exists across the world for quality, pre-owned plant and equipment sold through established and trusted source, McHale Plant Sales is bringing their legendary used equipment market online with the opening of a dedicated website focused entirely on used equipment sales.

Accessible at www.mchaleauctions.com, the site builds on the company’s long-running b2b used sales market – which, over decades, has served buyers in all continents – the new McHale online auction site gives users immediate on-screen access to a world-wide theatre of used machinery buyers, a large number of whom will be familiar with the reliability that McHale Plant Sales delivers.

Described as a ‘must visit site’ for sellers upgrading their fleets, and for buyers seeking quality used equipment from a reliable source, the inventory of equipment sold through the site will include the full catalogue construction equipment, extending to include quarrying and aggregates, forestry, farming and agriculture, waste processing, telehandlers and other equipment lines.

Commenting, McHale Plant Sales director, Denis McGrath – under whose oversight the process operates – said: “as main distributor of leading international brands, much of previously owned units offered for sale are likely to have been originally supplied by us as new machines to customers – many of whom are large contractors whose policy is to replace key equipment well before its sell-by date”.

“Experienced in servicing international buyers – with items inspected by us and all back-office functions like transportation and documentation provided – buyers can be assured that the standards we have developed and nurtured over decades will continue to apply,” he added.

Resulting from their appointment as UK distributors of Metso stone crushers – first announced last January – McHale Plant Sales has established its first UK base in the Staffordshire town of Tamworth. From there, the company will initially service Metso customers across England, Scotland and Wales with an additional outlet in Scotland to follow next year.

Chosen for what McHale says is its ‘strategic location’ the new Tamworth base is situated on the Lichfield Road Industrial Estate in the town where it will accommodate offices, machine storage, parts warehouse and a repair and maintenance workshop.

Commenting, the company’s sales director, Denis McGrath said: “of the many locations we examined, Tamworth stood out as one from which we could reach-out to machinery owners and operators whose priorities in terms of technical back-up and after-sales support we fully understand.”

“In Tamworth we will implement an approach to customer service proven in Ireland and Northern Ireland where sales, service and parts operate in lockstep,” McGrath added.

Metso and its distribution partner McHales Plant Sales LTD have signed a contract to expand their aggregates distribution coverage to Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). Starting in January 2023, Metso’s mobile equipment, spare and wear parts coupled with McHales Plant Sales Ltd technical expertise and local presence will ensure that the company’s aggregates customers in Great Britain receive the service levels they have come to expect from Metso.

The two companies have successfully partnered in Ireland since 2015. The decision to expand the long-lasting partnership to England, Scotland and Wales was driven by shared ambition to reach and serve customers more broadly in the region.

“This expansion of our distribution partnership with McHales enables us to not only service the already significant installed base of existing customers, but also reach out to new customers,” says Juha Yli-Petäys, Senior Vice President, Global Distribution Management at Metso.

“With the agreement, we provide equipment, parts and services for customers with the desired support level. Our portfolio covers the needs of different types of customers and applications and meets the local requirements and standards. We are happy to be able to utilize the opportunities in the region in collaboration with McHales. To ensure the best experience and technical support for our customers, a transition period between Garriock and McHales will continue until the end of March for aftermarket support. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Garriock for their contribution during our fruitful partnership,” he concludes.

“Since our appointment by Metso as distributors with responsibility for the Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland markets, we have seen how customer interest in Metso’s offering has increased significantly. We look forward to building on our partnership with Metso by bringing our knowledge and experience to the English, Scottish and Welsh markets,” says Tim Shanahan, Managing Director of McHale Plant Sales.

McHale will structure their operations to provide the levels of customer support, sales, marketing and on-the-ground back-up to meet the expectations of the quarry owners and aggregate producers.

Metso is a frontrunner in sustainable technologies, end-to-end solutions and services for the aggregates, minerals processing and metals refining industries globally. By improving our customers’ energy and water efficiency, increasing their productivity, and reducing environmental risks with our product and process expertise, we are the partner for positive change. Metso is committed to limiting global warming to 1.5°C with Science Based Targets.

Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, Metso employs over 15,000 people in more than 50 countries and its sales for 2021 were about EUR 4.2 billion. The company is listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki.
